Old Ideas Combined with New Technology

Innovation, in the team’s eyes, is not only about creating something new, but also taking something old and using it in a new way. The house is conceived as prefabricated modules separated by a breezeway. Glazed walls open and fold to completely integrate breezeway and living spaces. The porch is created as desired by folding out portions of the building skin.

Solar Technology

Rather than traditionally installed on a flat roof, cylindrical solar collectors are integrated into the building skin to contribute to solar power generation while providing shade and visual privacy.

The cyclindrical design of the Solyndra panel allows light to hit every part of the tube. The team mounted the panels on a highly reflective surface to maximize sun absorption from the back.
