REDUCE Reducing one’s carbon footprint is essential in achieving sustainability. By combining spaces for different activities, creating zones for heating and cooling, and extending the living space to the deck the Project RE:FOCUS house encourages a sustainable way of life.

REUSE Reuse of materials is essential to reduce consumption of resources. The UF team was able to reclaim and reuse materials from the community, which add character and a sense of place to the project.

RECYCLE In addition to providing an area to recycle waste materials, the team used many recycled materials in the design and construction of the house, showing that sustainability can happen at many different scales.
